Shelburne Museum X Higher Ground X Iskra Print Collective X Solidarity of Unbridled Labour

Quarter Century of Sound, Art and Ink

Since 1998, Higher Ground has been a cultural anchor in Vermont—a place where music lovers gather and live performance shapes the rhythm of the community. From the beginning, Solidarity of Unbridled Labour (formerly JDK Design) collaborated with Higher Ground and the Iskra Print Collective to create limited-edition silkscreen posters, an ongoing effort that grew into one of the region’s largest and most eclectic bodies of concert poster work, built over twenty-five years by designers, illustrators, printers and visiting artists. To honor this legacy, the full archive was assembled, photographed and transformed into Echo, a commemorative book capturing the scale, texture and spirit of the work, accompanied by a foreword from Jeff Tweedy celebrating the creative faith behind it. The book inspired the Shelburne Museum to invite Higher Ground and Solidarity to create an exhibition featuring hundreds of posters, bringing the archive to full scale and offering visitors a chance to walk through a quarter century of music and craft. Today, the collaboration continues to evolve with new posters for new shows, standing as living proof of what long-term creative partnership can make possible. Photography: Joel Gardner
